AHWAZI ARABS FACE IMMINENT EXECUTION AND OTHER ILL-TREATMENT IN IRAN

Three Ahwazi Arabs from Susa are facing torture and imminent execution.

Ali Chabishat Kaabi (48), Selman Chayan (32) and Sayed Yassin Mousavi (34) are members of Al-Shabab (Youth) cultural organisation in Susa city in the north of Al-Ahwaz and were arrested by the Iranian intelligence services on 11 November 2012.

According to the reliable sources, all three men have been tortured by the intelligence services, and are being held in secret detention under the Iranian intelligence services in Ahwaz city. The sources also confirmed that the Iranian services recently forced the men into "confessions" on the Iranian regime's Press TV. They have been o hunger strike since 3 July, according to their families. They are being denied medical treatment for the injuries they have received due to torture.

Around 25 members of the Al-Shabab cultural group were arrested by the intelligence services. The organisation is mainly focused on teaching the Arabic language for people in Susa and Shawour, a small town south of Susa. The organisation also helped Arab students who are struggling to enter university in Iran, and helped 45 Ahwazi women to go to university. The Iranian intelligence services objected to these activities. However, 22 members are free on bail.
